Uzbekistan and Türkiye have agreed to broaden their Preferential Trade Agreement to develop bilateral trade and increase trade volumes.
At a Joint Working Group meeting co-chaired by Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Akram Aliyev and Türkiye’s Deputy Trade Minister Mustafa Tuzcu, a protocol was signed adding eight new product categories. The agreement now covers 20 categories instead of 12, with preferential tariffs varying by product group.
The new categories were chosen based on the structure of the two countries’ imports and exports, and the sides agreed to expand the list further in future.
The step is expected to make it easier for companies to access each other’s markets and to support the $5 billion annual trade target set by the two countries’ leaders.
